Yaskawa chooses Drives show to re-establish its UK presence

Friday, February 26th, 2010

Axis New England works with Yaskawa. They are the latest major supplier to sign up to exhibit at the Drives & Controls Show at the NEC in June. Following the ending of its joint venture with Omron last year, the Japanese motion engineering giant is using the show as part of its campaign to re-establish its independent presence in the UK.

“We are using the show to re-establish Yaskawa in the UK with its own brand,” says Paul Seale, the company’s key account manager (below). “We think that the Drives & Controls Show is great opportunity to do that.”

The Series 12 family of laser distance sensors are now also available with the serial interfaces RS232 and RS485. The laser distance sensors OADM 13 have a convincingly compact housing (13.4 x 40 x 48.2 mm) and a measuring distance of up to 550 mm. The triangulation method combined with the precise optics and an intelligent signal evaluation allows resolutions of up to 10 µm at a measuring rate of 900 µs. The sensors are available with measuring ranges of 300 and 500 mm. Depending on the application, the sensors are offered with dot shaped or linear laser beams.  Using the interface, the current data cannot only be recalled and transmitted continuously, but it can also be e.g. gauged or archived in a hold register where it can be accessed later. In case operational reasons call for a temporary shut down of the laser, the correspondent order can be transmitted through the interface.  Thanks to the compact housing, the sensor can be used even in cramped spaces and monitor the production process directly on the spot.
